THE
CONSORTIUM

The Consortium “Tutela dei Vini dell’Irpinia” was established as a voluntary, non-profit association on the 24th of April 2003 and registered at the Chamber of Commerce of Avellino. Its establishment was promoted by the economic operators involved in the individual production chain with the specific aim of protecting PDO and PGI agri-food products..

These products, deemed worthy of special legal protection, are included in specific quality schemes established and regulated by EU legislation, and are listed in the special European Database of PDO (Protected Designations of Origin) and PGI (Protected Geographical Indications) Products.

THE
MISSION

Wine, vine products, vineyards, and winegrowing regions, as the result of labour, set of skills, knowledge, practices, and traditions, constitute a national cultural heritage to be protected and enhanced, in terms of social, economic, productive, environmental, and cultural sustainability.

with Ministerial Decree of 27 September 2017 No. 69830, was authorised to carry out the functions of promotion, enhancement, supervision, protection, consumer information and general management of interests, referred to in Article 41, Paragraphs 1 and 4 of Law No. 238 of 2016, concerning the DOCG wines “Fiano di Avellino”, “Greco di Tufo” and “Taurasi” and the DOC wine “Irpinia”.
