The wines from Irpinia earned a high consideration in the world of fine wines thank to the determination of the producers, committed to a program inspired to quality, research, selection and improvement of grapes.
In addition to all this, the awareness of the identity and character of this terroir brought to found and develop an association among growers and producers, the “Consorzio di Tutela dei Vini D’Irpinia.
The common purpose is to build and preserve a favorable environment, to give value to the wines of our land, Irpinia. Among the excellent Italian wine districts, Irpinia has been able to save from extinction and reaffirm noble varieties such as Aglianico, which best expression is the great Taurasi DOCG, Fiano, used to produce the prestigious Fiano di Avellino DOCG, Greco, the grape used for Greco di Tufo DOCG, but also Coda di Volpe and Falanghina, all composing the varietal platform of Irpinia DOC, among the best and most ancient grape varieties of Italy.
With great passion and commitment, the “Consorzio di Tutela” represents all the wine producers of Irpinia, both the classical and the new comers, being a synthesis of the community of players of the whole wine district.
Born in accordance with the rules that govern Italian high quality wine production, the Consorzio represents the interests and the competences of all the professional components of Irpinia wine industry, as center of coordination, direction and control aiming to realize an effective promotion of the wines of this territory.
